Badlands

Startrek Voyager/Deep Space Nine The Badlands I began reading this novel on October 22, 2012. I completed it on October 28, 2012. It was written by
Susan Wright. It had 256 pages in it.

This novel took place prior to the Caretaker. Chakotay commanded the Selva.
Marquis lived in the Terik of Belt on the edge of the edge of the badlands.
The Plasma Storms were the cause of them stopping to mine in the area.
Seska was on the Selva, and she was Chakotay's number One and his lover.
Michael Eddington, the new security chief on DS9 and smuggled torpedo's when available

Seska was betraying her crew. The Cardassians were setting a trap for the Marquis. Seska was tired of keeping secrets and actually wanted the assignment to end. A plasma storm hit the Selva.

The Badlands were cursed and a plasma storm hit them. Torres was angry they couldn't fight the Cardassians. Tuvok had 3 weeks left on the Selva, then would return to Voyager.

There was a brief truce between the Federation and the Cardassians during the Dominion war. Seska was communicated with her Cardassian friends to let her ship go in. She knew Tuvok was a Starfleet spy. One third of Chakotay's crew was sick with Tetryon poisoning.

They destroyed Opac Nor Station. Seska was the one who caused the issue with the impulse drive that almost destroyed the ship. After a fight with the Cardassians the Marquis were in the Badlands and got intercepted by an unknown entity. Some joined the Marquis when the Cardassians took their homes.

Voyager was on its maiden voyage through the badlands to intercept the Marquis and get Tuvok back. The doctor knew Paris before this. The doctor annoyed Janeway by turning his back on her. Staadi, a Betazed, befriended Tom, but had to block the ability to read his thoughts. Staadi took Tom to the holodeck to a Voyager simulation so that he could practice his flying.

The Cardassians were blaming the Marquis for the destruction of Opek Nor. A plasma storm interrupted the warp core momentary. They received a distress call from the Vetar, a Cardassian warship. The distress call was from Gul Evok. They were intercepted by a subspace shockwave.

The Vetar had half as many crew members than it could support. Paris went to help in the transporter room, but the friction between him and First Officer Cavit, caused Cavit to send him to sickbay for a lesser assignment

The crew of Vetar were aboard Voyager because their ship got radiation poisoning. Gul Evek just told Janeway about the destruction of Opek Nor and that they destroyed the Selva.  Tom started talking with Evek

Evek left a chip by Paris. Paris got the computer to scan Evek's quarters, when he didn't answer the door. The computer couldn't find him. Paris alerted Janeway. Evek was dead. None of his crew or Dukot seemed sorrowed by his death. Dukot told Janeway to destroy the chip Evek left for Paris to find.

Kim began to wonder why everyone was so mean to Tom. Voyager got tossed to the Delta Quadrant. Sisko would resign his Starfleet position if he couldn't speak the truth on behalf of the prophets. Martok was a changeling.

The Federation and Cardassians and Klingons were united in dealing with the Dominion War. Odo saw the last of the people who fought the Marquis off, but didn't celebrate with the rest of the crew. The first and last time he celebrated was a week ago, since then the baby changeling that Quark sold him died and was absorbed by him giving his changing ability back. Since the Dominion War began the Station was insulated with a material that prevented Odo from slipping through the structure of the station.

Bashir was a changeling. Odo was going to try to do something about the Badland Curse with Dax and Obrien. They were going to look for Changeling and bring them to DSN so they can live out of the Tetryon Radiation. Bashir was captured by the Gem Hader. Martok was there as well, and injured.

AQS stands for artificial quantum singularity. They found a Romulan ship.
There was huge mistrust issues with Romulan as usual. Bashir was testing Odo for neutrino poisoning and himself as well. Odo was infected, but could be treated.

A Jem-Hader ship came out of the wormhole and just passed the station. The Jem-Hader were going to attack the Alpha Quadrant along side of the Cardassians. Odo is sick.

The Romulans haven't sealed important areas of their ship from changelings.
The Dominion was the prime target of the Romulans. The Dominion planned on rupturing a quantum singularity is the badlands. The AQS would explode soon and wipe out life in that section of space if they couldn't stop it

Weyhon was taking orders from the founders. The Jem Hader were following Weyhon blindly. The Romulans captured a bit of the AQS and were going to use it against the Dominion. The wanted to fire it in the wormhole and destroy all life between their and a million kilometers. The Jem Hader neared the Romulans. Their ships had the Romulans surrounded.

The AQS was traveling. Sisko was using the Romulans folding space transporter They were going to transport the AQS outside the universe to unharmed any civilization. They were successful moving the AQS.

ST: TNG: Body Electric

Began Sunday November 5, 2015

Wesley heard psychic screams of terror. He witnessed a black hole swallow surrounding stars. Data's searching for Lol. He put Juliena on his ship and sent her to safety

"Training keeps a warrior sharp." Worf

StarFleet offerered Worf command but he refused. Wesley told the Travelers about the destruction to the universe he had just witnessed--chaos ensued. He saw his mentor and asked whats going on. They tried to stop the machines but couldn't. Wesley's gone to try to take the machines on alone. Q sent him to talk with Picard. Akharin, the Immortal, was being held prisoner by the machines. They wanted to learn how to make a positronic matrix. Akharin agreed to save his daughter.

Data met with a robotic spider on a planet. The robot mistook him for his father. Wesley interupted a monotonous  staff meeting to his mothers relief. Wesley led the crew of the Enterprise to the Machines.

Picard wanted an armada of ships and StarFleet approved it, but Wesley said it will be to strenuous on him to mask an armada of ships verses one.

"In times of danger and combat, soldiers often fight not for their people or their ship, or even their unit, but for their friends and kin who stand beside them." Worf

Wesley was in a universe where he met duplicates of himself and had to fight them for survival.

The Enterprise made it to the machine's core and found Wesley's ship, they were transporting it aboard. They identified the Machine as an ancestor of V'Ger, a probe that was launched in the mid-twentieth century& went through a wormhole &was reprogrammed by AI to destroy life and collect data. Worf and the away team made first contact with Body-Electric. Body-Electric called carbon units not true life forms. Taurik, the Vulcan security officer on the away mission, got Body-Electric give its current directives and task parameters.

Picard and the crew were going to start to communicate with the machines. Data found Akharin. Data was lead from his cell, but before he promised the Immortal he would save Rea, his daughter.
The Enterprise needs to find Data to talk to the Machine-Electric Body. LaForge asked Data for help, but he couldn't since he was in the Machine Electric. Wesley offered to save Rene and Beverly but Beverly refused. Data got control of Gatt with Nanites. Rhea was asking Data what was next for them after they escaped. Data wants Rhea to help him raise Lol. Data had a choice to let Rhea live or die, or have Alkerin live or die, he chose Alkerin. Data is back aboard the Enterprise. Picard and the crew are glad he is safe. Data is fixing Gatt and then he let him go, because Gatt wasn't in control of his actions while under the control of the Body Electric.

"In the distant future, the expansion of the universe will separate galaxies and eventually even stars, by such and ever growing distances that for an observer in any given system the rest of the cosmos will look dark and completely empty. Even now there are parts of our universe beyond our view. This limit of the observable universe is the cosmic light horizon."

"We create to deny the inevitability of our own obliviation."

ST: TNG Indistinguishable From Magic

By David A. McIntee 483 pages

PART 1 CHALLENGER

Jason Lambert is the captain of the Intrepid. All the ships in the Fleet, were changing to Federation ships, codes, getting warp 6 engines, more trandportor ability, and greater torpedo yields. The Intrepid hit a Romulan mine and exploded.

Admiral Collins asked the Vulcans to help see what happened to the Intrepid. The Vulcans found three bodies and some hull plating. Geordi was talking to a Vulcan shipmates about the connection one feels to a ship. The Vulcan dismissed it immediately.

Picard was busy figuring out what reports were to forward to Starfleet. Enterprise found the debris from the Intrepid. The Intrepid had radiation leaks from a nearby star. There was a question of its authenticity, but that got resolved.

Laforge and his team found something like moss on the Intrepid but then it was found that oy was the suits of the crew melted down. The remains of the.ship were 2,500 years old but the ship was only 250 years old

"Sometimes it's not just the treasure that draws us to the past, but a human connection."

Starfleet was sending the Columbus to study the Intrepid and asked Geordi to temporarily be on the mission while studying it.
He was asked for by Scotti. Worf helped Laforge make up his mind.
He met Guinin on the starbase while waiting for Scotty's ship.
He met Ogowa and Barcley aboard as well as Nog and Leah Brahms.
Rasmussen beamed aboard, a person Geordi helped apprehend on Enterprise.

Their questioning the use of Slipstream drive or Slingshotting around a star, to make possible a jump from 200 years ago. Radiation caused rust on the ship.
They had to make di-lithuem for the Intrepid. They brought the computer back online and a holographic projection of the last few minutes on the Intrepid were seen. Dr. Brahms, talked to Guinen about Geordi about his relationship with Rasputan. He was not trusted by Nog or Geordi. Nog scanned him for stolen items when he could.

On Earth, Rasmussan worked on a blade to cut through anything but an EV suit. In a diner he met a professor who he thought stole the invention from him. The professor was a time traveller. The professor was sick, from a condition that didn't exist yet, and needed some meds from his pod, but Rasmussan wouldn't get it. He died.

He was taking the professor to the storage area where he kept his time pod, the professor hand opened it. Intreped was under attack

Challenger was in battle with the ship that was scouting the Intrepid. Challenger was intetiating sauser separation. Challenger got the bridge crew of the enemy vessel. Nog was talking to the Ferengi dressed in civilian clothes saying the ship was Ex-Federation
Rom was the Grand Nagus. Rom was a member of the Bajorean militia. Rasmussan let the Ferengi know where Challenger was. They're under armed guard.
La Forge ordered the Starfleet crew to repair the ship. They were repairing the cloak as well. The Intrepid was taken over by Ferengi.
They were going to wait until the Federation had fixed the Intrepid, however they were taking to long.
Challenger was having trouble finding Intrepids warp trail.
They beamed a parsec of space to the Challenger and found a cloaked ship, which decloaked with s phaser. Geordi and Barcley found the wormhole Rasmussan wanted to travel back in time because he missed his friends and family. Bok was going back in time to save his son. Challenger was under attack. Geordi and Barcley were going to use the transporters to dematerialize and be out of phase with reality and be ghosts.

Barcley made Rasmussan think that Bok was about to betray him by recording Boks conversions and editing the words together. Everyone  aboard the ship was out cold. Reg and LaForge came back into phase. Both ships were getting signals from the future as well as the past. Bok was in control of Challenger by a remote, which couldn't be overridden. The Challenger was travelling through time. Intrepid was going to beam Geordi and Reg off Challenger.

Challenger was going further back then 2423, it couldn't control when it was going. Intreped was going to use their Transpoters to degrade Challengers temporal coordinates to keep it in this timeline. They used the Romulan Probe to close the timerift before Challenger entered. Guinan was against the wall with shrapnel keeping her, because Challenger was trying to prevent it from going back in time. Transporers were destroyed because of this as well.

Ogawa had so many patients that Barcley suggested using the holodeck, however she refused. They realized a mine hit the ship and caused another trans slip stream wave. Hera, which Geordi's mother disappeared on, was due to the same phenomena. Hera could still be out there. Scotti was forced to step down from captaincy because of his age.

LaForge was asked to take command of Challenger. Barcley was first officer. Scotti went to engineering. The Tal'Shiar found the Trans-slipstream wake.

PART 2 MOBIUS TRIP

Gomez, captain of the DeVinci, came aboard Challenger. A Klingon Bird of Prey detected a cloaked ship detected a cloaked ship which they assumed to be Romulan.

They were crossing the galactic barrier. The Romulan ship was headed on an intersept course to Federation space. The Romulans detected the slipstream. The ship was hit by something and they lost most systems but lifesupport.

Challenger got a distress call from a Romulan vessel. They rescued the Romulans from the Stormcrow.
The preator, head of the Romulan ship was Sela, the one that resembled Tasha, and the one that was head of the crew that caused Geordi to almost kill the Kligon govenor against his will. Geordi was hit and knocked out when Barcley found what blew the Romulan ship up.

The device Rojan gave Kirks Enterprise took them between sub space and actual space. Sela, was as Romulan as anyone, if she died she'd be honored. Challenger was thrown back by a trans Slipstream and blew up and lost power. Scotty was in sickbay.

He talked himself out by saying he would be more useful in engineering. Reg was talking through a shuttlecrafts comm. The Romulans came to engineering to help. They found found the Hera.
They're sending an away team to the Hera of Scotty, Barcley, Nog and a Romulan to go by shuttlecraft. Reg is in love with the Romulan. The shuttle got swallowed by an unknown energy source. The planet was not rotating or so they thought. They found La'forges moms and her crewa grave. The away team was being attacked by an unknown zombie like entity. Control of emotions was found to weaken the moss monsters. Some of the Hera crew saved the away team. The moss creatures were made by the fear they caused. The engines were going off brainwaves

The aliens were explorers who visited other galaxies as well. Scottie and Barcley were looking for a way to go through Universe bubbles to be able to reunite with Challenger. Challenger was going to send a Romulan vessel through the fold. They were melting Hera. Geordi's mom died suddenly in a landslide. They are two hundred years from known space. Both the Federation and the Romulan had to travel together, which.could end up to be a major problem. They were soronded by anti body like aliens.
Scott just transported himself to collapse the fold by having Challenger explode. The alien body had promised to deliver the ship safely to the Alpha Quadrant. Picard expected the Romulan vessel for days after Challenger disappeared.

StarTrek: The Next Generation: Spartacus

I began StarTrek: The Next Generation: Spartacus on January 23, 2019 and finished it on March 2, 2019. The book was by T. L. Macour and had 275 pages.

The Enterprise was stuck in a "Gabriel Effect," which was a phenomenon which wreaked havoc on the technologies. When they cleared the nebula they met up with the Freedom and Captain Jared. Riker was going to meet him with an engineering team to help repair their ship. Riker was on the Freedom.

"We're all aliens to someone." TNG Spartacus P. 24

The Freedom was a "Noah's Arc."

Geordi asked to bring Wesley aboard the Freedom to show him more about Star Drives. Freedom crew was very impressed  with Data. They asked for a Federation history. Someone on the Freedom was hurt and Geordi found out they were cybernetics. The Enterprise put out a dinner for their Freedom guests. The Freedom crew was beaming over to the Enterprise. Jerrod toasted to the Gods who made their paths cross. Picard found this a little odd.

After the Freedom crew dined and were back aboard the Freedom, the Enterprise got in contact by the Vindicator Fleet who claimed ownership of the Freedom.

"Humans were humans, no matter where they were in the world." Spartacus p. 91

"Sure we don't need to eat, exercise, or create art, but we are happier when we do so." Spartacus p. 131

"The surest way to have limitations is to impose them on yourself." Spartacus p. 132

"Personalities aren't limited to carbon based life-forms." Spartacus p. 134

"Soul is the driving force of all intelligence endeavors." Spartacus p. 134

"The avoidance of an issue does not remove the issue from existence. It merely postpones the inevitable facing of that issue." Spartacus p. 144

"There are few truly honorable positions in war." Spartacus p. 152

The Vemlins were going to fight the androids not use battle drones.

Muram beamed over and gave Data the whole of the Androids soul on the Freedom.

"Every mission we find living examples of how the universe is not only stranger than we imagined, but that it's stranger than we can imagine. Yet the further we go and the stranger things become, the real impossibilities are happening all around us." Spartacus p. 167

"Life is too unique an attribute to be wasted in futile endeavors." Spartacus p. 171

"A destructive conflict that served no necessary purpose was an illogical and unnecessary waste of resources." Spartacus p. 185

The Vemlin androids were under Federation protection since they may becoming Federation citizens

They were talking about membership. Jerod had a bomb in his hand if it didn't go well.

"The universe is so diverse in its formation of life-forms that no true objective definition exists. The closest I could come to say is that life is a complex, reactive, self-replicating prossess that some entities possess. Some say the best way to define it is by its ultimate negative quality: "A living thing is a thing that can die."" Spartacus p. 214

"This question has many different aspects as well. There is a religious side--do androids have souls? I am not qualified to give an opinion on that. There is a psychological question--are androids self-aware and capable of conscious, sapient thought? Though I am trained in psychology,  it isn't my specialty and again I can't render an opinion. Then there is the biological issue. On that I am able to render an opinion." Spartacus p. 218

"Data and the other androids have been built in the shape of their creators. They have two hands, two feet, two eyes, a nose two ears, and an advanced electrical chemical processing system. Now in a human or humanoid form of life, I would say that you can artificially replace each and every biological part of a single body, with one exception, thus creating a cyborg or cybernetic organism and still class the individual as a living being. It isn't the veins, and the tissues and the cells that make it a sapient being, it's the one thing that cannot be replaced--the brain or analogous central system." Spartacus p. 219

"What experience has a baby at birth? None. A baby has no intuition, gut feelings, or sense of honor, or duty....Yet do you codemn it to death because of what it is? Your son perhaps, would you allow him to die, cursing him for the idiocy, because he didn't have the capacity for all those grand and glorious sensations the day he was born...or would you cherish him for all his potential?" Spartacus p. 227

"Politeness and manners, when practiced universally alter the behavior of both the practicer and recipient in a favorable manner. In essence if you are polite to everyone, then people are more inclined to be polite to you." Spartacus p. 238

"If you walked through a dream it mattered little which way you walked." Spartacus p. 241

"If you are going to kill a man anyway, it cost nothing to be polite." Spartacus p. 242

"No one man is free as long as there is one man in bondage to another." Spartacus p. 251

Data took Swahili to the holodeck and then was stopped by the Romans and slaves talked with them after that Data told them that they were all crucified. The Vemlin Fleet was planning on taking out the Freedom/Conquest

"Perhaps mutiny and high treason have a rejuvenating effect on the soul." Spartacus p. 273

The Spartacus Droids became members of the Federation. Data kissed Murray, the Spartacus ship librarian.

After reading this book, what I took away is that no matter what race, religion, ethnic, technological  background we come from we all strive to be understood and loved as a whole entity.

Geordi La Forge

Star Trek Quote of the Day:

StarTrek Birthday:

Geordi La Forge

Born February 16, 2335

"Geordi La Forge was born without sight, but at age 5 he received visual instrument and sensory organ replacement (VISOR) technology that allowed him to see beyond the typical spectrum. Captain Picard personally requested La Forge to serve on the Enterprise-D after being impressed by the former shuttle pilots attention to detail. While on an inspection tour, Picard made an offhand comment about the shuttle's performance and La Forge  stayed up all night to correct the issue. A time-travel mission to defend the Federation from the Borg would allow La Forge to participate in the test flight of Zefram Cochrane's Phoenix, Earth's first warp capable ship."

Dr. Beverly Crusher

Star Trek Quote of the Day:

StarTrek Birthday:

Dr. Beverly Crusher

October 13, 2324

Dr. Beverly Crusher was raised by her grandmother who, while not a physician, was practiced in the use of herbal remedies. This proved valuable in treating the wounded following an incident at the Arvada III colony where they resided where they resided. With that basic training, Crusher went on to study medicine at StarFleet Medical, even taking command of the organization for a year in 2365. Crusher tragically lost her husband when their son, Wesley, was only five years old. She was forced to raise Wes on her own as she continued on different StarFleet postings. Most of Crusher's career was spent working under Captain Jean-Luc Picard as cheif medical officer on ships named Enterprise.
