Soldiers of Fear

In Startrek: The Next Generation The Invasion of the Soldiers of Fear, it started before James Kirk and ended in Picards time. This book was started on January 16 and finished January 24. It has 342 pages. Seventy five years ago Kirks Enterprise saved the Klingons from the Furies.

Robert Young and Bobby were on Brundage Station as punishment for telling senior officer that nothing in Starfleet compared to skiing. At the same time the Furies were attacking the Station. They were said to come from Klingon Space. The mass of the station had dropped exponentially. The warning device was destroyed. They were dealing with a tear in space-time. Five Furies ships appeared but only two were firing at the station.

Meanwhile on The Enterprise Riker and Redbay, friends from the academy, were flying planes in the holodeck, when Picard called, sounding distressed. They just received Priority 1 message from Brundage Station notifying them of the situation.  Redbay awoke and thought it was a dream and then became aware and screamed and was stopped by a Fury, they wanted to know what he feared.

Data found that one Fury ship had disposed of the majority of the Klingon Fleet in Kirks time. But Kirk turned the tides in their favor.

Picard and his staff were scared to death of the Furies. Brundage Station, surprisingly, seemed undamaged to Enterprise. Riker, as well as the whole crew, seemed to be on edge, Data couldn't understand this. They found Luitenant Young out cold. When Riker called the Enterprise, Young tried to scream.

They found ancient Hebrew writing, written in reverse which said the powerlessness of Yaweh, two to three millennia old. They found the two other men's bones.He found the female crew member.

They beamed back. It just felt bad. The creature introduced himself, on the viewscreen as fear. The bridge crew were all incapacitated by fear, accept Data and Picard. Deanna was in her quarters heard her mother trying to r relax her. Anderson was in Engineering.
He recollected his parents dying.

Laforge fell out a Jeffries tube. He didn't seem hurt. Laforge asked the captain for five minutes. He was denied. The ship automatically went to red alert, no one put it on mysteriously.

Young was dying, Crusher had no idea what from. His eyes were opened, yet he looked at the ceiling. Young was being frightened to death. Beverly now had the fear plague. Young choked.

Picard wanted to negotiate with the Furies. The Furies refused to negotiate.
The Furies have enslaved people in this sector. Riker was sent to engineering to assist LaForge, for many of his team were affected by Furies. The Furies entered the Alpha Quadrant through a wormhole, but Data could not find it.

Worf went to his quarters to prey to Kalis for strength and luck. Picard gave the ok to Worf to use spiritual rituals to help fight the Furies. Vergo Vedil was commanding the Furies. Sakill, his first officer, had hair that was snakes, that were tied into her emotions. They ate the air, for it was filled with nutrients.

They wanted to keep the Enterprise intact for a gift to their fleet which were to follow as soon as the crew was incapacited. Redbay, Rikers friend, found the Furies signal in Interspace. Riker used Poker signals to communicate with another captain about their findings. Their wormhole was getting bigger.

The Enterprise dropped its shields to repair them. The shields against the telepathic fear of the Furies help block most of the fears.bRiker and Warf volunteered to go in a shuttle to go to the other side of the wormhole and close.

Beverly was figuring the plague. Crusher found Troi on the floor out cold. Beverly thought she would never see Troi alive. She created a sedative as well for the Fury attack and tested it on herself and it worked. Deanna awoke to say the Furies were afraid of them. Deanna was released and went to the bridge.

The Fury culture is focused entirely on getting to the Alpha quadrant. There were hundreds of Fury ships coming through the wormhole. Picard haf to send one of his crew to close the wormhole to their death.

The Klingon ships, Doh'Way and Hojiy were assisting the Federation vessels in the war. Krahn and Kopek were the captains. The two captains were enemies, so if either died it would be good for the Empire.

The Furies started coming through the wormhole. Worf offered to go through the wormhole and callapse it. Worf wss denied that task. Worf and Redbay were going to cover Rikers ship. Worf and Redbay were covering Rikers shuttle. Worf and shuttlecrafts were taken great hits. It was up to Redbay.

The Enterprise destroyed one Fury ship. Redbay was hit too hard. Redbay went through the wormhole. Through the wormhole there was a large mechanical astroid with power flowing through it. Redbay suceeded in collapsing the wormhole. The Furies died from embarrassment.

Worf and Riker were transported to sickbay, Riker went to the bridge before Crusher could do anything. Picard asked Riker about Redbay in Ten Forward.

Hugh

Formally known as Three of Five, he was a Borg Drone rescued by the Enterprise D. Injured he was attend to by Dr. Crusher. He quickly made friends with Geordi. When he met with Picard, who was not thrilled of having him aboard, Picard was recognized as Lucutos. He informed Hugh that resistance was futile. Hugh informed him that he would not help assimilate Geordi. Picard was stunned. Picard was stunned that a Borg would say such a thing. Hugh was returned to where he was found to rejoin The Collective. The new sense of individuality proved deadly to the Borg. His cube fell into chaos and disconnected from the hive. Lore discovered them and assumed leadership. He ran tests on them, killing many. Hugh led a rebellion against him. With the help of The Enterprise stopped Lore from acheiving his goal.

Guinan

She was born in the late nineteenth century on El-Aurian. A Tarcassian razor beast was her imaginary friend. When troubled she talked to it, enjoying just curling up on his warm belly. When she grew, she of course talked to it less.

Worf

Born December 9, 2340 Qo'nos, Klingon Empire

Lieutenant Commander Worf is conn officer, cheif tactical officer and cheif of security on the USS Enterprise-D. He was raised by a human family, although he always considered himself a true Klingon. As the first Klingon in Starfleet, Worf became one of the most influential Klingons of his era. A courageous,  idealistic, and honorable warrier and martiel arts expert, Warf seems serious, surely and intimidating, but he can also be gentle and humorous.  He had a son, Alexander Rozhenko, with K'Ehleyr, a Human-Klingon woman.

Guinan

She is a humanoid female from El-Aurian. Her position is a barkeep on Enterprise-D. She has a lot of children from her 23 marriages. Her race is known for their ability to listen. However they were scattered by an attack from the Borg. She was posted on the Enterprise-D in 2365 at the request of Picard.

Tashas Death

The first regular Star Trek character to be killed off Natasha "Tasha" Yar played by Denise Crosby in the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.  Lieutenant Yar had been chief of security and chief tactical officer on the USS Enterprise D until she was killed by a sentient pool of muck called Armus in the episode "Skin of Evil."

Jean - Luc Picard

Being one of the most celebrated and well respected officers, Picard had a career of over 50 years during the mid 24th century. Starting with the command of the USS Stargazer, which was followed by the commands of the Enterprise D and E, he witnessed and negotiated some of the hardest turning points in galactic history.  He made First  Contact with over twenty - seven species including the Borg and Ferengi. Under Picard, the Enterprise first met with the Q - Continuum. Picard also served as the Arbiter of Succession for Worf, while he was uncovering that Galion was compromised and adding the Romulans. He is the only captain who captained two different classes of Starships, Galaxy and Souvenir class.
